Wayne  'Big Dog' Gibbs 2002 - 2010

The clubs longest serving player who took part in every season in the clubs history until 2010 when he announced his retirement from the Game due to injury. Still wanting to help the club Wayne will be training to become the clubs statistician during the 2010/11 season. Thanks for everything Big Dog!

 

Lawrence 'Puff' Summers 2006 - 2007

Although Puff only played one season for the Fury his infectious enthuasiasm and work ethic will always be remembered. Now a proud father plying his Basketball trade in Ireland Puff helped Fury to there highest position ever in EB basketball finishing in the top 10 clubs in the country! Visit Puffs website:

Luke Simon 2003 - 2009

Luke when starting high school was grabbed by Coach Bamfield at 11 and told he would be playing basketball as he was already over 6ft. He spent 6 years playing for the Fury at all levels including division 1 before taking time out of the game due to injury last season. Luke hoped to make a return to the game in 2010.

Ryan Plaice 2003 - 2010

Ryan is part of the squad of juniors who led the way for our development program. Starting at the Park high school in year 7 Ryan played all his junior basketball with the club. By 2007 at just 15 he was playing major minutes in Division 4 while practising with the Division 1 squad. That year he debuted for the senior men and in 2008 was a fixture in the squad. For the past 2 seasons he has played for our Division 4 squad and blossomed into an excellent PG. This year Ryan has secured a place at an American College and will be working hard to continue his basketball dreams. 

 

Richard Milbourne 2006 - 2008

Rich was a key member of our division 1 squad and was always an intense and committed individual. He left the club to take up a place at Worcester Uni to study teaching and play for their National league teams.

 

Jon Stonebridge 2003 - 2007

An outstanding club servant, Jon was the clubs first 'Big' signing in more ways than one! At 6ft 9 Jon had been playing in Division 1 with the Teeside Mohawks but was tempted to join the Fury by close friend Matt Ellis. Named MVP his first season he helped lead the team to succesive promotions while sportinga veriety of outrageous haircuts! In 2007 Jon moved to the Midlands for work and played a year for the Wellingborough Phoenix helping them to promotion and a year for Leicester before deciding to retire last year due to back and ankle problems

 

Wesley Lockwood 2002-2003 & 2004 -2006

Wes was a big part of the Fury rise from non league to National League as he helped the squad finish 3rd in the area league in 2002. In 2003 Coach Bamfield helped Wesley make connections at the Sheffield Arrows were he was part of their Division 2 championship team. In 2004 Wes returned to the Fury and helped them gain promotion to division 2 and in 05 reach the Founders cup, although he would not play in the final as he had taken up a job offer working offshore. He is now enjoying family life with his Wife and Son, while playing basketball recreationally.

  

Sam Luong 2005 - 2006

Sam joined our squad just before christmas of our first season in Division 1 and helped as we won 4 from our last 7 games. Including our victory over Worcester Wolves now of the BBL. Sam now runs his own succesfull youth Basketball program in Sacremento USA.

  

Steve Pilkington 2005 - 2008

Steve was one of the most talented players the club has seen and a true 'High flyer'. In 2008 he returned to Australia where he is enjoying starting a family along with playing a high level of basketball.

 

Matt Ellis 2002 - 2006

Matt was part of the boom squad playing regional league, and being part of promtion from non league to Division 1. An exceptionally conditioned athlete Matt went on to become a high level triathlete!

 

Patrick Manifold 2003 - 2009

6 glorious years with the club as Pat was part of the highs and lows of our development. In 2007 Pat was named MVP and in 2009 he moved to UMPI College in the US. For more information on what Pat is up to now visit our academy products page.
